My Two Cents
Tuesday, August 15th, 2006Bah I’m bored… and when so it can’t ever be a good thing. So that’s why I’m writing again! Boredom makes me, builds me, and will one day, kill me. So let’s start ranting shall we?
Life is, in a word, weird. A thing that’s considered to be the greatest thing you do in the past, may be the lamest thing you do now. Simple example, a guy is called a nerd and is mocked for studying too hard. Dammit man, he’s just trying to get through school with good grades! And you assholes just have to mock and tease him all day long and whatnot. And God forbid he has a scrawny or pudgy physique, wears thick glasses, has no athletic abilities and doesn’t have any material possessions of any importance. But of course, such a kid is just too…. Extreme to exist. But then again, who knows? Another example, when you’re old it’s good to be religious and possess a good quality of faith. But, when you’re a teenager… I can’t really say the same thing. Ok, so you’re appreciated in church, but when you bring that stuff to school and get a bit too enthusiastic about it, the most probable thing is that you’re ‘cool’ peers will, again, mock you and whatnot. Well that’s what I’ve been seeing on the outside anyway, I dunno what’s happening backstage. So I can probably summarize that showing any kind of kindness towards people that you don’t know, or being too enthusiastic about something is, in a word, uncool, and the coolest people are usually the most corrupted ones. Well, maybe not corrupted, but let’s face it, kids at school usually only appreciate those of athletic, insanely cute and/or handsome and talented musicians with a face to match(ok so the musician doesn’t have to look like an Adonis, but if they don’t, they have to be extra talented). Well usually these types aren’t so bright and the stereotypes for these types are that they are extreme jerks. But of course stereotyping is bad so the people say, so I’m just gonna hold it there for the while. I need more boredom if I’m ever gonna finish anything…
Well, the only hobbies that are approved to be ‘cool’ at school is prolly the sport section of things, other extracurricular activities aren’t so cool until a cool person joins said activity. Like the choir, it’s good to express yourself by singing rite? Well, if a band of geeks/nerds join it and they only have so-so singing ability, then get ready to go through the same shit you go through everyday. Unless of course you have something to offer to the community, like test answers for example. IMO there’s probably only one way that a nerd can be considered as neutral by kids at school, and that is by providing ANSWERS to TESTS. That, or they could take up some kind of sport of some sort. I mean they’re not that weak, rite? But of course if you act all freaky like in school… Ehhh… Can’t really say anything there… Not to mention if you have the mental age of a 5-year old… Yeesh… That’s creepy, weird and annoying at the same time! You have to be reaaaallllllll smart to make up for that big minus!
Another thing is that people these days only wanna hang out with you for what you currently have, or will have in the near future. Personally… I can get anything I want if I want it, but I choose to be a child who knows his place and thus doesn’t ask for much… Well, at least I think it’s not much anyway. I dunno maybe the reason I have friends is because they see a reason to be friends with me. I could treat them for lunch, dinner, movies etc for one thing. The only reason I do that is because, person who is reading this, I believe in a thing called karma. So whatever the hell I give, is sure to come back, doubled, nay TRIPLED, if the lord is so kind. So I’m indirectly expecting some payment… But come on… It’s not like payment from above comes everyday… Ok, so it does come everyday, I’m thankful enough I’m still alive to type this thing down… But from what I see, people wanna be your friends if, a) they want something from you b) you’ve been friends with them for as long as you can remember or c) you have power, reputation and instill some kind of fear in the hearts of the people around you. These days the word ‘friend’ means so many things that I just have no idea how to explain it.
And those are my two cents. Have a nice day people.
